1989年，由英國樂團驚懼之淚(Tears for Fears)發表的單曲《Woman in chains》獲得很不錯的回響，後收錄在專輯《The Seeds of Love》中。女聲的部分與Oleta Adams合作，Angela Alvarado則飾演MV的女主角。
即使是在西方社會，女權運動的提升也要經過一百多年才趨成熟。1969年有一首歌In the Year 2525，光是第一句就憂心地指出:「2025年時，女性是否還能生存?」
MV的劇情具體的描述了歌詞的內容，如果女人只能受男人宰制，這個世界就繼續瘋下去吧。「It’s under my skin but out of my hands」這句更是將痛苦描寫得很好的絕筆。
